Introduction
Tags are the short labels your customers see on your website next to a car or a vehicle class — Automatic, 5 doors, Tow bar, Pet friendly — usually with a small icon. Tags are grouped into categories such as Transmission or Comfort, and your website can use those categories as filter headings, so a customer can narrow the list down to, say, automatic cars only.
There are two separate kinds of tag, and they never mix:

All three are managed from one screen headed Tags, which holds three tiles: Asset Tags, Asset Group Tags and Categories. Each tile opens a list with a New button above it and a bin icon at the end of every row.
You come here when:
- A new model with a tow bar joins the fleet and the website should say so.
- Customers keep asking whether your vans are automatic, and the website does not show it.
- The website shows labels in a strange order, or shows a label you want hidden.
- The icons next to your labels on the website show as broken images.
- You want to see which labels exist before tagging a new vehicle.
Vehicle tags also feed the tag filter on the planning board; see Reschedule bookings on the Scheduler. Use this page whenever you want a label to appear online or to be available as a filter.
How to use
Configuration
Tags need one thing set up first: at least one category. The app refuses to save a tag without one.
1. Open the tag screens. From the main menu, open Admin, then Product design, then click the Tags tile. (The same Tags tile also sits under Admin, then Assets.) The screen headed Tags opens.
2. Create a category. Click the Categories tile. The screen is headed Tag Categories, with "Use categories to categorize your tags. Mainly relevant for front end filtering." underneath. Click New Tag category. A form opens on the Tag Category tab:

Click Save. If Name is empty, the box turns red with Name is empty and nothing is saved.
3. Translate the category (optional). The Translation tab shows a block for each other language. Click New Translation in a block and type the Name in that language. See Translations for how languages reach your website.
Before you start: everything on this page — the Tags tile, the three lists, and the Tags tab on a vehicle or a vehicle class — is for a company administrator only. An ordinary staff account cannot open these screens and cannot change the tags on a vehicle. If you need a tag added, ask a company administrator. Every tag and category belongs to your own company; no other company on the system sees them.
Using the tag screens
From the main menu, open Admin, then Product design, then click the Tags tile.
1. Create a vehicle tag. Click the Asset Tags tile. The screen is headed Asset tag, with "Use tags to categorize your assets." underneath. The list has the columns Image, Name and Category, with a search box under the last two. Click New Asset tag and fill in the Asset Tag tab:

Click Save. A missing name or category gives Name is empty or Tag category is empty under the field.
2. Create a vehicle class tag. Back on the Tags screen, click Asset Group Tags. The screen is headed Asset Group Tag, with "Use tags to categorize your asset groups." underneath; its category column is spelled Categorie. Click New Asset group tag. The Asset Group Tag tab has two fields the vehicle tag does not:

The icon box sits under the fields, as on a vehicle tag. Click Save.
3. Upload or change an icon. Open the tag by clicking its row, use the picture box at the bottom of the first tab to choose an image file, then click Save. To change the icon, upload a different file the same way. There is no button to take an icon off entirely.
4. Translate a tag (optional). On the tag's Translation tab, click New Translation in the language's block and fill in Name, Short name and Description. All three are required once you start a translation. To throw a translation away, click the red bin icon captioned Cancelar in its block.
5. Attach tags to a vehicle. Open the vehicle (main menu Assets, then the Assets tile, then the vehicle — see Add a vehicle to your fleet). On its Tags tab, pick one or more tags from the Asset tag box, then save the vehicle. To take a tag off, remove it from the same box and save.
6. Attach tags to a vehicle class. Open the class from Admin, Product design, Asset groups (see the rental classes page). On its Tags tab, pick one or more tags from the Asset group tag box — each shows as name (category) — then save the class. The New link above the box creates a new class tag, but does not attach it: save the tag, then pick it from the box.
7. Delete a tag or category. Click the bin icon at the end of its row. A deleted tag disappears from every vehicle or class that carried it. Treat the bin icon as final.
Key details
Changes reach your website without a separate publish. Your website asks the app for the tags each time it shows a vehicle or class, so a saved tag, a changed order or a newly attached tag shows the next time the page is loaded.
Order, worked through. Your categories are Transmission (Order 1) and Comfort (Order 2). The Compact automatic class, rented at €45 a day, carries three class tags: Automatic (Order 1, Transmission), Air conditioning (Order 1, Comfort) and Cruise control (Order 1.5, Comfort, Highlighted No). Your website shows the Transmission heading before Comfort, and on the class itself shows Automatic and Air conditioning only — Cruise control is left off because it is not highlighted. Tags with the same order number have no fixed order between them, so give each one its own number.
Vehicle tags have no order field. The Order box exists only on class tags and categories. Vehicle tags all carry the same order, so you cannot decide which one comes first.

Icon links are stored when you save the tag. The address of a tag's icon is worked out from your app's web address at the moment you click Save, and kept with the tag. Uploading a new icon without saving the tag leaves the old address in place.
What to do next: attach the new tags to your vehicles and classes (steps 5 and 6), then open your website and check the labels, their order and their icons.
Q&A
Why do the tag icons on my website show as broken images, when they looked fine before? The icon addresses were saved while your app had a different web address — for example before a move to a new domain. Each tag keeps the old address until it is saved again. To repair one tag, open it from its list and click Save without changing anything. To repair every tag at once, ask RentVisie support: a system administrator can rebuild all icon addresses in one go. Categories are not affected; their icon address is worked out fresh every time.
Why does a tag still show an old icon online after I changed it? The tag was not saved after the new file was uploaded. Open it and click Save.
Why does a class tag not show on the website, even though it is attached to the class? Its Highlighted is set to No. Open the tag from Asset Group Tags, set Highlighted to Yes and click Save.
Why does Save on a tag do nothing except turn a field red? Either the name or the category is missing, or a translation on the Translation tab has an empty Name, Short name or Description. Check both tabs. Remove a half-finished translation with Cancelar if you do not need it.
Why is there an empty row in the Tag Categories list? New Tag category saves an empty category straight away, so clicking Cancel on the form leaves it behind. Open it and give it a name, or remove it with the bin icon.
Why can I not pick a tag on the Tags tab of a vehicle? Only a company administrator can change a vehicle's tags. Also check that the tag is a vehicle tag: class tags never appear in a vehicle's Asset tag box, and vehicle tags never appear on a class.
Why will a class tag's short name not take more than 20 characters? A class tag's Short name is limited to 20 characters, while a vehicle tag's allows 200. Put anything longer in Name or Description.
