In which cases is which payment option used?

Online payments
Online payments are the basis of all payments. These payments take place at various points in the booking process. Payments are made online when a booking is created, for example. In addition, before the booking starts the customer pays any outstanding deposit and, if applicable, the remaining rental amount via the customer portal. Online payments are also made when scanning the QR code on an invoice. Finally, customers pay via online payments when a booking is extended, so the customer does not have to come back to the counter to make an additional payment. -
Direct payments (POS)
In case there is still an outstanding amount before hand-over or after return, you as the rental company use the direct payments (POS) option. This is comparable to a traditional card terminal, but it has the major advantage that the amount to be paid is retrieved directly from RentVisie. This prevents incorrect amounts from being recorded, so you never refund too much deposit again. -
SEPA direct debit (via Twikey)
For long-term agreements such as lease, shortlease and car subscriptions, direct debits are a great way to collect money from your customers automatically. To counter the risk of chargebacks, we use the B2B scheme.
How do the three options work in RentVisie?
Online payments – simple and familiar
Online payments run through Mollie, a reliable partner that supports most well-known methods:
- iDEAL
- Credit card
- iDEAL 2.0
- Apple Pay
- Google Pay

How it works: online payments are embedded in various places in the system, such as payments while creating a booking and paying a deposit via the customer portal. It is fully automated. When the customer makes a payment, it is visible straight away in RentVisie and is also synchronised with the accounting software.

Costs: €0.29 per iDEAL transaction (other payment methods depending on type).
Direct payments – faster with Mollie POS
For payments at the counter or on the go, Mollie POS is ideal. It works fast, prevents errors and fits perfectly with the day-to-day practice of car rental.
How it works: the customer is at the counter and pays via a card terminal. As soon as the payment is completed, it is visible straight away in RentVisie. This prevents wrong amounts being paid due to typing errors and speeds up the process.

- No incorrect recording of deposits (so you never refund too much)
- Faster processing
- Visible straight away in RentVisie
- Reliable and error-free
Costs: €0.29 per transaction.
SEPA direct debit – fully automated with Twikey
For business customers and recurring payments, SEPA direct debit (B2B) is an efficient and secure option.
How it works: from RentVisie you send a mandate request to your customer. The customer simply signs the mandate online. At the moment of invoicing, RentVisie automatically checks whether there is a valid mandate. If so, the invoice is collected straight away. The customer has no option to reverse it.
Advantages of B2B SEPA direct debit
- Cannot be reversed (only refused in case of insufficient funds)
- Certainty of payment → less risk for rental companies
- Fully automated in RentVisie
